He holds a PhD by the University of Coimbra, and he teaches in the areas of Portuguese Literature (16th to 18th centuries); Inter-art Studies; Theory of Literature; Literature, Memory and History (PhD in Portuguese Language Literature); Interdisciplinary Seminars (PhD in Information Science), Literature, Arts and Media (PhD in Materialities of Literature). He has published several works on Portuguese literature and culture from the 16th to the 18th centuries, in national and international journals, and several monographs, including: <em>Metamorfoses do espelho. O estatuto do protagonista e a l\u00f3gica da representa\u00e7\u00e3o ficcional na trilogia de Rodrigues Lobo<\/em> (Lisboa, IN-CM, 2003), <em>D. Francisco Manuel de Melo e o modelo do \u2018cortes\u00e3o prudente e discreto\u2019 na cultura barroca peninsular<\/em> (IN-CM, forthcoming). With Jos\u00e9 Eduardo Franco, he edited the volumes <em>Revisiting Vieira in the 21st century: Political Culture and Current Affairs <\/em>Vol. I (<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.14195\/978-989-26-1811-1\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.14195\/978-989-26-1811-1<\/a>) and <em>Revisiting Vieira in the 21st century: The Power of the Word &#8211; Writings, Arts and Teaching of Vieira <\/em>Vol. II (<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.14195\/978-989-26-1815-9\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.14195\/978-989-26-1815-9<\/a>), Coimbra University Press, 2020. He participated in the research project \u201cNo Problem Has a Solution: A Digital Archive of the <em>Book of Disquiet<\/em>\u201d and is a member of the European COST Action<em> Distant Reading for European Literary History<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.distant-reading.net\/\">https:\/\/www.distant-reading.net\/<\/a>). In 2015, he co-edited the issue \u201cArts, Media, and Digital Culture\u201d of <em>MATLIT: Materialities of Literature <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/impactum-journals.uc.pt\/matlit\/issue\/view\/2182-8830_3-1\">https:\/\/impactum-journals.uc.pt\/matlit\/issue\/view\/2182-8830_3-1<\/a>), and has been working in the area of Digital Humanities, Intermedia and Digital Media.
