The New Art of Making Books

MATLIT LAB will publish a translation into Portuguese of Ulises Carrión’s text “El arte nuevo de hacer libros” (1974), in a way that enhances its content. Our aim is to make available in Portuguese, in a format that is both accessible and interesting, this seminal text on the materiality of the book. This experiment may be especially relevant for the fields of book studies, editorial design, or concrete poetry, among others. A tripartite edition is planned: a paper edition, a mail art project related to the edition, and a website where the mail art project is documented and complements the paper edition.
